Bottle Rocket: In Physics class we were assigned to build bottle rocket for our "Lost in Space" theme. We had to place an egg in our nose cone which is a part of the rocket and make sure it doesn't crack after it is launched. The parts of the bottle rocket that we had to have were the wings/fins, the bottle, the nose cone to place our egg in, and the cushion that will protect the egg from cracking. We got a few ideas of how our rocket would look like after reading the book "Martian". Before we started building our bottle rocket, we did some tests with alka seltzers. We made our nose cone and wings/fins out of card stock. We the attached them onto the film canister with tape. We filled our canisters half way with water because if we filled it up fully, the canister will explode and there would be too much pressure. Lastly, we then added the two alka seltzers in the canister and closed the cap as quick as possible. We flipped the bottle, placed it in the container, and watched it launch. We attempted it a couple of times to make sure how our fins/wings and our nose cone would look like in our actual bottle rocket. We brainstormed ideas for each part of our rocket.
Headphones: For our "Be Heard" assignment we were assigned to create headphones. Headphones have many parts such as the joining piece, cone, diaphragm, and more. We were assigned to design the outside of our headphones to spread a message on our headphones.
Lab Report: In Physics I conducted my first lab report and this is where I conducted an experiment with my group. My lab report included the abstract, lab procedures, materials, conclusion, data, and more about my experiment. The experiment that I have done in my group tested the effect of air resistance on aluminum foil, printing paper, recycled paper, and a plastic bag when pushed off a table.
Wind Turbine: In Physics I built a wind turbine with my group. To be able to build this project, my group and I had to discuss the: number of blades that we will have in our turbine, blade design, and blade length. After this we started building our wind turbine. In the button below is the wind turbine report.
Freshman Monument Ideas: Since this is my freshman year, my class and I built a Freshman Monument. Here are some ideas that my group and I have come up with.
Final Freshman Monument: My class and I came down with one decision for our Freshman Monument. Our monument will be a bridge to represent our future and there will be a fence post around it that each student will design. On the bridge there will be tile designs. Also, under the bridge there will be rocks, which the students will also design however they want.
